Una excelente participaci\u00f3n obtuvo el equipo de la Rama de Ajedrez del CDEII (Centro Deportivo de Estudiantes de Ingenier\u00eda Industrial)<\/strong><\/a>, que represent\u00f3 a la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n en el Primer Campeonato Mundial de Ajedrez Universitario en L\u00ednea,<\/strong>\u00a0 considerado el evento universitario m\u00e1s grande de la historia de este deporte en donde la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n se adjudic\u00f3 el puesto 38 y se impuso como la tercera mejor Casa de Estudios de Sudam\u00e9rica.<\/p>\n

El encuentro – que se llev\u00f3 a cabo entre el 14 y 18 de marzo por medio de la plataforma de juego Tornelo – fue organizado por la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Ajedrez (FIDE), en conjunto con la University Texas R\u00edo Grande Valley, y cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de 202 universidades de 64 pa\u00edses, en total, 960 estudiantes (198 alumnas y 762 alumnos).<\/p>\n

Del CDEII participaron Mario Constanzo (Pedagog\u00eda en Matem\u00e1tica), Joaqu\u00edn Fica (Lic. Cs. Jur\u00eddicas y Sociales), Alex Ortega (Ingenier\u00eda Civil Industrial), Jos\u00e9 Bahamonde (Ingenier\u00eda Civil Electr\u00f3nica), Carlos Castillo (Geof\u00edsica), David Co\u00f1a (Geof\u00edsica) y Melany Vild\u00f3sola (Bioingenier\u00eda). En esta oportunidad el entrenador del equipo fue el destacado ajedrecista Oscar Estay Torreblanca, quien desde 2019 brinda apoyo al ajedrez del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Industrial.<\/p>\n

La competici\u00f3n se separ\u00f3 en dos torneos oficiales de ritmo \u201cblitz\u201d (rel\u00e1mpago) y \u201crapid\u201d (r\u00e1pido) con equipos mixtos de hasta 7 participantes. Adem\u00e1s, se habilitaron salas en la aplicaci\u00f3n ZOOM, por las cuales los jugadores y jugadoras debieron encender su c\u00e1mara, compartir pantalla y mostrar la barra de tareas del ordenador en todo momento con el objetivo de evitar trampas.

Alex Ortega<\/strong>, de 24 a\u00f1os, es estudiante de sexto a\u00f1o del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Industrial de la UdeC, jugador con ranking oficial y miembro fundador de la Rama de Ajedrez del CDEII. El aspirante a ingeniero menciona que a pesar de la pandemia por Covid-19 y las diferentes restricciones como cuarentenas y distanciamiento social, el ajedrez se ha seguido practicando gracias a la tecnolog\u00eda y las distintas aplicaciones habilitadas para jugar. Por otra parte, destaca la participaci\u00f3n del equipo en el campeonato: \u201cEl resultado del equipo super\u00f3 ampliamente nuestras expectativas. Estar dentro de las mejores 40 universidades del mundo es algo que a\u00fan no hemos asimilado. Creo que nuestra principal fortaleza fue el nivel parejo de todos los integrantes, lo que nos permiti\u00f3 superar la media de puntos y sobrepasar a universidades con jugadores muy fuertes. Sin duda que este logro nos motiva a seguir entrenando y participando en torneos por equipos, donde hemos podido demostrar que tenemos un nivel bastante competitivo\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Modos de juego y resultados de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n<\/p>\n

Para el torneo \u201cblitz\u201d, se estableci\u00f3 un ritmo de juego de tres minutos y dos segundos de incremento por jugada (3+2). Para enfrentarse, se dividi\u00f3 la cantidad de integrantes en cuatro categor\u00edas de nivel similar, sin competir entre miembros de la misma universidad: A, B, C y D. Luego de esta etapa, los mejores participantes (hombre y mujer), de cada categor\u00eda, calificaron para acceder a la final individual.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Para conocer el resultado de los equipos, se consideraron los puntos de los cuatro mejores participantes de cada casa de estudios sumandos de manera mixta: los tres mejores hombres m\u00e1s la mejor mujer o las tres mejores mujeres m\u00e1s el mejor hombre.<\/p>\n
