La Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n cumple un rol social fundamental en la formaci\u00f3n de sus estudiantes que se refleja en el diario quehacer. La responsabilidad social es una cuesti\u00f3n transversal a las diferentes \u00e1reas de desarrollo incluidas las diversas especialidades de ingenier\u00eda. En Ingenier\u00eda Civil de Minas se realizan diversas actividades con este fin. Un ejemplo de ello es el estudio de ventilaci\u00f3n subterr\u00e1neo llevado a cabo con el apoyo del Programa de Asistencia y Modernizaci\u00f3n de la Peque\u00f1a Miner\u00eda Artesanal (PAMMA) en una peque\u00f1a mina artesanal de carb\u00f3n de la provincia de Arauco, Regi\u00f3n de Biob\u00edo.<\/p>\n

Las tecnolog\u00edas de simulaci\u00f3n de procesos han estado limitadas generalmente a la gran y mediana miner\u00eda o empresas de consultores que poseen los recursos necesarios para costear el precio de las licencias y el conocimiento para su uso. El enfoque de este estudio es poner a disposici\u00f3n de una faena de carb\u00f3n de miner\u00eda artesanal, una de estas herramientas que permiten realizar simulaciones en 3D del sistema de ventilaci\u00f3n de la mina.<\/p>\n

En primer lugar, se recopilaron los antecedentes y se realiz\u00f3 un levantamiento de datos en terreno para caracterizar el circuito de ventilaci\u00f3n existente en la mina e identificarlas dificultades y limitaciones a las que deben enfrentarse los mineros en la mina.<\/p>\n

Los datos recopilados permiten implementar un modelo de simulaci\u00f3n tridimensional del circuito de ventilaci\u00f3n de la mina; La herramienta seleccionada en este caso es el simulador VentSim™.<\/p>\n

A partir del modelo calibrado se lleva a cabo un an\u00e1lisis que permite evaluar el comportamiento del circuito de ventilaci\u00f3n ante el avance de las labores de la mina y el impacto en los flujos del sistema cuando se termine la excavaci\u00f3n de una nueva conexi\u00f3n a superficie que se encuentra en fase de construcci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Este trabajo, desarrollado por Gersson Rivera Abello y Ram\u00f3n D\u00edaz, estableci\u00f3 procedimientos f\u00e1ciles de seguir y puso al alcance de la miner\u00eda artesanal las herramientas de simulaci\u00f3n de \u00faltima generaci\u00f3n, entreg\u00e1ndoles a la faena y sus trabajadores como resultado de esta colaboraci\u00f3n el conocimiento e instrumentos necesarios para mejorar la seguridad y asegurar que se cumplan los requerimientos de aires necesarios en el interior de este tipo de operaciones mineras subterr\u00e1neas.<\/p>\n
