Un nuevo proyecto de ingenier\u00eda se suma a los otros cuatro adjudicados en el VIII Concurso de Investigaci\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica del Fondo de Fomento al Desarrollo Cient\u00edfico y Tecnol\u00f3gico Fondef IDeA<\/strong>, de la Agencia Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo, ANID. Ver nota anterior.<\/a><\/p>\n Se trata del proyecto denominado \u201cSistema de tratamiento integral de alta eficiencia para la remoci\u00f3n de ars\u00e9nico del agua acoplado a un proceso de fotocat\u00e1lisis para su estabilizaci\u00f3n y disposici\u00f3n segura para el medio ambiente\u00bb,\u00a0<\/strong>del Dr. Ramalinga Viswanathan Mangalaraja, acad\u00e9mico e investigador del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda en Materiales.<\/p>\n Este proyecto propone desarrollar un prototipo de sistema integral de remoci\u00f3n de iones de ars\u00e9nico disueltos en el agua, estabilizaci\u00f3n y disposici\u00f3n de forma segura con el medio ambiente, con bajo consumo energ\u00e9tico. El proyecto ser\u00e1 desarrollado por la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, espec\u00edficamente por el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda de Materiales en alianza con el Laboratorio de Tecnolog\u00edas Limpias de la Esta tecnolog\u00eda tendr\u00eda una alta utilidad en la zona norte de Chile, dada que su actividad volc\u00e1nica natural del \u00abAnillo de Fuego\u00bb, la geolog\u00eda de la regi\u00f3n y las actividades antropog\u00e9nicas del desarrollo econ\u00f3mico (la extracci\u00f3n de cobre y actividades de fundici\u00f3n) son focos de contaminaci\u00f3n por ars\u00e9nico. Adem\u00e1s, esta zona se caracteriza por ser des\u00e9rtica y la mayor\u00eda de las fuentes h\u00eddricas disponibles presentan niveles de ars\u00e9nico, lo cual las hacen no aptas para consumo
