Durante las \u00faltimas semanas se ha conocido el trabajo de universidades y equipos especializados que han dedicado sus esfuerzos a la fabricaci\u00f3n de insumos m\u00e9dicos que hasta ahora son escasos. Lo anterior no ser\u00eda posible sin la liberaci\u00f3n de patentes, planos o dise\u00f1os para la fabricaci\u00f3n de mascarillas o ventiladores. Importantes universidades o centros tecnol\u00f3gicos como el MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)<\/strong> o empresas tecnol\u00f3gicas como Medtronic<\/strong> est\u00e1n colaborando con la entrega gratis (baj\u00e1ndolas desde sus sitios) de estos planos de fabricaci\u00f3n. Todo esto en el marco de la emergencia internacional del Covid-19 y que apunta, justamente, a contar con elementos que permitan enfrentar de mejor manera esta enfermedad.<\/p>\n

\u00bfPuedo bajar y crear mi propia m\u00e1scara o ventilador? La idea es que s\u00ed, que estos planos est\u00e9n disponibles para todos, pero especialmente para profesionales del \u00e1rea que puedan crear numerosas unidades. Tal como lo est\u00e1 haciendo la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n,\u00a0 a trav\u00e9s del Centro Industria 4.0 (C4i) y la UDT (Unidad de Desarrollo Tecnol\u00f3gico),<\/strong> junto a otras universidades del pa\u00eds, en la creaci\u00f3n de mascarillas de protecci\u00f3n para el personal de salud de Chile. Ver nota<\/a><\/p>\n

IMPORTANTE CONSIDERAR<\/p>\n

Otro punto importante y no menor es la preocupaci\u00f3n de que estos dise\u00f1os de libre disposici\u00f3n cumplan con est\u00e1ndares de calidad. En eso el Centro de Ingenier\u00eda para la Vida (CIV)<\/a> de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n (FI UdeC), ha estado estudiando el tema de las certificaciones y de las alternativas que se est\u00e1n ofreciendo para asesorar a la hora de elegir uno u otro dise\u00f1o, y su director, el docente de la FI UdeC, Esteban Pino, entrega algunas especificaciones.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrimero se debe verificar si lo que se est\u00e1 ofreciendo es adecuado, por ejemplo si las mascarillas realmente filtran microorganismos, en este caso el virus. En el caso de los dise\u00f1os liberados por MIT<\/a> o Medtronic<\/a> ellos poseen experiencia en estas certificaciones, por lo que se aseguran los requisitos m\u00ednimos para el buen funcionamiento\u201d<\/strong>, explic\u00f3 Pino.<\/p>\n

Sorteado el primer paso del dise\u00f1o, viene otro relacionado con la fabricaci\u00f3n. \u201cEl dise\u00f1o puede estar bien pensado, pero la fabricaci\u00f3n es otro tema relevante y por lo tanto, se deben generar prototipos que permitan hacer pruebas para justamente velar por que se cumplan los est\u00e1ndares\u201d,<\/strong> cont\u00f3 Pino, quien est\u00e1 participando de un grupo internacional en el tema de est\u00e1ndares de calidad relacionados con mascarillas y ventiladores mec\u00e1nicos, integrado por ingenieros del IEEE de todo el mundo.<\/p>\n

\u201cLa idea es apoyar y ordenar la informaci\u00f3n, y generar gu\u00edas claras que indiquen si un tipo de dise\u00f1o sirve, si no est\u00e1 claro o si definitivamente es un riesgo para las personas, siempre bas\u00e1ndose en datos cient\u00edficos y est\u00e1ndares internacionales. Tambi\u00e9n generar especificaciones m\u00ednimas y pruebas que permitan comprobar la efectividad y no pase como, por ejemplo, los test r\u00e1pidos fallidos comprados por Espa\u00f1a, o las mascarillas N95 falsificadas<\/a> vendidas a Estados Unidos, porque se genera desesperaci\u00f3n por los compradores y, lamentablemente, aprovechamiento de personas inescrupulosas\u201d<\/strong>, cont\u00f3 Esteban Pino, quien agreg\u00f3 que la IEEE tambi\u00e9n liber\u00f3 est\u00e1ndares<\/a> relacionados con la pandemia y art\u00edculos o papers, en un esfuerzo internacional desde la ingenier\u00eda para colaborar en la crisis actual.<\/p>\n

Hoy, lo que m\u00e1s se necesita son elementos de protecci\u00f3n personal, m\u00e1s simples de producir, como son las mascarillas faciales que est\u00e1 fabricando actualmente el C4i y la UDT. Posteriormente, o quiz\u00e1s en forma paralela, es la automatizaci\u00f3n de los actuales ventiladores manuales, como las bolsas AMBU. \u201cEsto es lo que est\u00e1n haciendo en otros pa\u00edses para facilitar la labor del personal m\u00e9dico. En este caso, el sistema crea el accionar autom\u00e1tico de la bolsa, sistema que est\u00e1 ya validado. En caso de una falla, se toma la bolsa y se prosigue en forma manual\u201d,<\/strong> explic\u00f3 el ingeniero civil electr\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n

La siguiente etapa, un poco m\u00e1s compleja, es la creaci\u00f3n de sistemas de ventilaci\u00f3n tipo CPAP, que es una m\u00e1scara que mantiene una presi\u00f3n positiva, bajo condiciones de aire limpio. Y luego, la creaci\u00f3n de ventiladores autom\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl caso de los ventiladores autom\u00e1ticos es m\u00e1s complejo, porque tienen m\u00e1s piezas involucradas, necesitan distintos suministros de aire, mezcla con ox\u00edgeno, filtros, partes que van dentro de la persona (intubaci\u00f3n), partes m\u00f3viles que no pueden fallar como el fuelle, el sistema de control de presi\u00f3n, sensor de respiraci\u00f3n voluntaria, as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n el dise\u00f1o del software que controla el equipo completo , son varios factores a considerar, donde cada uno est\u00e1 sujeto a fallas\u201d<\/strong>, cont\u00f3 Esteban Pino.<\/p>\n
