El distanciamiento entre las personas es una de las medidas de autocuidado m\u00e1s importantes para evitar el contagio de COVID19 y ante esto las autoridades han establecido cu\u00e1nto debemos estar separado de otro, pero muy poco sabemos del contagio del virus en el exterior. Un reciente estudio elaborado por un equipo de ingenieros y f\u00edsicos de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, el centro INCAR y la empresa MSET Chile SpA, y liderados por el acad\u00e9mico de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, FI UdeC, y doctor en Ciencias F\u00edsicas, Pablo Cornejo, investig\u00f3 la dispersi\u00f3n de gotas respiratorias exhaladas por una persona experimentando un s\u00edntoma respiratorio en un \u00e1rea urbana bajo condiciones microclimatol\u00f3gicas t\u00edpicas, concluyendo que el viento aumentar\u00eda el radio de alcance de las gotas de saliva liberadas durante un estornudo.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan explic\u00f3 Cornejo, escenarios como los descritos en las simulaciones efectuadas durante la investigaci\u00f3n no han sido reportados en la literatura, \u201ces por ello que nuestros resultados tienen relevancia en la actual epidemia COVID19<\/strong>\u201d, coment\u00f3 y explic\u00f3 que en redes sociales se han viralizado tres o cuatro videos asociados a simulaciones de contagio, pero el gran detalle es que ninguno considera un contagio en espacios abiertos incluyendo el efecto del viento y su modificaci\u00f3n por la infraestructura urbana, lo cual eventualmente podr\u00eda generar una falsa sensaci\u00f3n de seguridad.<\/p>\n

De esta manera el estudio estableci\u00f3 que el radio de alcance de gotas exhaladas por una persona durante un estornudo y disponibles a ser transportadas por el viento turbulento, alcanza un rango mayor a tres veces la distancia recomendada en las sugerencias de comportamiento urbano que se han adoptado durante la epidemia COVID19.<\/p>\n

Es por ello que el llamado de los investigadores que abordaron esta tem\u00e1tica es a adoptar medidas preventivas de autocuidado por parte de la poblaci\u00f3n y que pol\u00edticas de distanciamiento f\u00edsico m\u00e1s estrictas podr\u00edan ser necesarias. \u201cLa difusi\u00f3n de estos resultados ayuda a validar la recomendaci\u00f3n de adoptar medidas preventivas de autocuidado como el distanciamiento social, uso de mascarillas, entre otros\u201d<\/strong>, puntualiz\u00f3 Pablo Cornejo. <\/p>\n
