\u00abLo primero es distinguir la fantas\u00eda de la realidad, porque est\u00e1 la fantas\u00eda y todo lo que uno ve en las pel\u00edculas, pero hay una cierta realidad que por supuesto es muy interesante\u00bb, comenz\u00f3 diciendo el investigador al inicio de su ponencia, quien cont\u00f3 adem\u00e1s que toda su vida profesional ha estado relacionado a la Inteligencia Artificial. \u00abMi memoria de t\u00edtulo fue sobre el modelo de una neurona; despu\u00e9s me fui a doctorar a la Universidad de Tokio, a estudiar redes neuronales artificiales (\u2026) Entonces ocurre que hoy esto est\u00e1 de moda, pero es lo que yo he hecho toda mi vida\u00bb.\u00a0<\/p>\n

El destacado acad\u00e9mico present\u00f3 algunos aspectos de su trabajo de en el \u00e1rea, compartiendo las l\u00edneas investigativas de \u201cMachine Learning\u201d,\u201dRobotics\u201d,\u201dBig Data\u201d y \u201cData Science\u201d, entre otros, as\u00ed como los procesos, tipos de aprendizajes y entrenamientos realizados para la programaci\u00f3n de robots y los desaf\u00edos que ya se plantean para el futuro. \u00abEstoy pensando en los pr\u00f3ximos 30 \u00f3 40 a\u00f1os, qu\u00e9 es lo que se podr\u00eda hacer y c\u00f3mo, en inteligencia artificial; hay varias definiciones, pero la m\u00e1s simple es tener m\u00e1quinas que se comporten como una persona, por ejemplo, que podamos tener esta conversaci\u00f3n con una m\u00e1quina y tu no notes que es una m\u00e1quina\u00bb, expres\u00f3 el doctor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

En ese sentido, el ingeniero el\u00e9ctrico se detuvo a aclarar el cuestionamiento \u00e9tico que se le pudiera acusar al desarrollo y la investigaci\u00f3n en inteligencia artificial, argumentando que como cualquier otra tecnolog\u00eda, est\u00e1 sujeta a la mala utilizaci\u00f3n, y precisamente que \u00e9ste \u00faltimo aspecto, es decir la fragilidad de la benevolencia humana, es donde \u00e9l ve el riesgo, m\u00e1s en que en desarrollo tecnol\u00f3gico en s\u00ed mismo.<\/p>\n

\u00abLlevamos 70 a\u00f1os tratando de hacer esto, y no ha sido f\u00e1cil, pero no significa que no se pueda lograr; y efectivamente hay muchas opiniones y muy diversas respecto al tema, sin embargo creo lo que todos los cient\u00edficos piensan, que s\u00ed se puede, la pregunta es cu\u00e1ndo, y eso es otro problema\u00bb, dijo Est\u00e9vez, refiri\u00e9ndose al desaf\u00edo de que robots puedan comunicarse de la misma forma que los humanos.\u00a0<\/p>\n

En una de sus conclusiones finales, Est\u00e9vez interpela un cambio en el modelo educativo, que se integre y posicione en la base de los contenidos de aprendizaje a la programaci\u00f3n computacional, explicando que, tal como ve \u00e9l la educaci\u00f3n en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os, \u00e9sta ser\u00e1 un requerimiento del mismo nivel que la alfabetizaci\u00f3n an\u00e1loga.<\/p>\n

La organizaci\u00f3n de la charla estuvo a cargo del docente del Departamento de Inform\u00e1tica y Ciencias de la Computaci\u00f3n, Guillermo Cabrera, quien \u2013junto a Est\u00e9vez, co-participan del Instituto Milenio de Astrof\u00edsica y del Proyecto Alerce que apunta al procesamiento y an\u00e1lisis de millones de alertas captadas en el cielo con diferentes intereses cient\u00edficos.\u201cCada cierto tiempo nos reunimos y esta vez somos aproximadamente 30 personas de varias instituciones en Chile, como seis instituciones, para tratar de resolver los problemas m\u00e1s importantes de ALERCE\u201d, indic\u00f3 el docente.<\/p>\n

Pablo Est\u00e9vez, quien obtuvo su doctorado en Tokyo, fue presidente de la Sociedad de Inteligencia Computacional de la IEEE (CIS), y cuenta adem\u00e1s con el reconocimiento IEEE Fellow, categor\u00eda que el directorio del Instituto de Ingenieros El\u00e9ctricos y Electr\u00f3nicos (IEEE por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) reserva s\u00f3lo para miembros que han destacado por sus importantes contribuciones en el \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n
