Revisar cada\u00a0 recurso pesquero, dentro de las toneladas de cada cuota de pesca, para verificar a que especie pertenecen estos recursos, es parte del trabajo de fiscalizaci\u00f3n que realizan los profesionales de Sernapesca<\/a> como parte de la normativa vigente. Para esto, el fiscalizador debe tomar muestras y conocer las caracter\u00edsticas de cada especie, lo que requiere de un juicio experto.<\/p>\n

\u201cUna forma de mejorar este proceso es apoyar al fiscalizador dot\u00e1ndolo con tecnolog\u00eda. Por esto, hemos estamos trabajando en un asistente digital que apoye la fiscalizaci\u00f3n, utilizando imagenolog\u00eda hiperespectral e inteligencia artificial, para generar una soluci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica que est\u00e9 validada cient\u00edficamente y proporcione trazabilidad digital al proceso. De esta manera, podemos ayudar al fiscalizador a tomar decisiones con un respaldo cient\u00edfico-tecnol\u00f3gico\u201d<\/strong>, se\u00f1ala el Dr. Jorge Pezoa, acad\u00e9mico de la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, l\u00edder del proyecto \u201cSistema de visi\u00f3n espectral para la discriminaci\u00f3n de especies pel\u00e1gicas peque\u00f1as\u201d, en el que tambi\u00e9n trabajan la Dra. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Saavedra y los Doctores Sergio Torres y Mauricio Urbina de la misma casa de estudios, la Dra. \u00a0Silvia Restrepo, acad\u00e9mica de la Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de la Sant\u00edsima Concepci\u00f3n y el Dr. Pablo Coelho de la Universidad San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/p>\n

Como parte del trabajo, los investigadores estudiaron la interacci\u00f3n entre la luz y la piel de especies pel\u00e1gicas y crearon un sistema basado en redes neuronales convolucionales que discrimina entre especies. \u201cEl sistema est\u00e1 entrenado para conocer las especies porque aprendi\u00f3 much\u00edsimas caracter\u00edsticas de forma espacial y, adem\u00e1s, por imagenolog\u00eda hiperespectral es capaz de ver cada forma con un color distinto, dentro de una gran gama de 300 en el espectro ultravioleta, visible e infrarrojo cercano.\u00a0 Nuestra idea fue replicar lo mejor posible el juicio experto de un fiscalizador, agregando adem\u00e1s la capacidad de ver en bandas en las que nuestros ojos no pueden hacerlo\u201d<\/strong>, indic\u00f3 Pezoa, quien adem\u00e1s se\u00f1ala que este asistente tiene muy alta tasa de discriminaci\u00f3n de especies.<\/p>\n

Vinculaci\u00f3n entre la academia, gobierno y la empresa<\/strong><\/p>\n

Este proyecto financiado por el Fondo de Fomento al Desarrollo Cient\u00edfico y Tecnol\u00f3gico, Fondef<\/a>, responde a una vinculaci\u00f3n entre la academia, Sernapesca y la empresa suiza SICPA Goverment Security Solutions Latam.<\/a><\/p>\n

El director regional de Sernapesca, Claudio B\u00e1ez, coment\u00f3 la importancia de la academia en la tarea de buscar respuestas a los problemas cotidianos que se presentan en los diferentes sectores, en particular la pesca. \u201cLa regi\u00f3n del Biob\u00edo concentra a la mayor flota artesanal e industrial del pa\u00eds. La tecnolog\u00eda y el intelecto desarrollado y cultivado puesto al servicio del pa\u00eds es la expresi\u00f3n m\u00e1xima de la universidad, aprovechando sus capacidades para vincularse y contribuir al desarrollo y progreso de la sociedad. Y, en particular en este proyecto desarrollado en la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n, viene a hacerse cargo de una problem\u00e1tica en la identificaci\u00f3n de especies\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Desde la empresa SICPA, Jorge Trujillo, Managing Director, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que esperan que el proyecto aporte tecnolog\u00eda para aplicar a tareas de control de la pesca y de este modo hacerlas \u201cm\u00e1s objetivas y transparentes\u201d, para beneficiar a quienes las usen en cuanto a la efectividad y eficiencia de estas funciones. \u201cQueremos que esta tecnolog\u00eda pueda a su vez ser aplicada en otros sectores, beneficiando la sostenibilidad en la utilizaci\u00f3n de los recursos naturales\u201d,<\/strong> a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/p>\n
