En el encuentro Ciencia Sin Ficci\u00f3n, efectuada el 01 y 02 de octubre, en Suractivo, y que se enmarc\u00f3 dentro de las actividades de la Semana Nacional de la Ciencia y la Tecnolog\u00eda, uno de los invitados a exponer fue Joan Leal, Ingeniero Civil del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Civil,<\/strong> quien se encuentra radicado en Sillicon Valley, Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n

Joan ha dedicado gran parte de sus carrera a buscar soluciones innovadoras para combatir el cambio clim\u00e1tico en las \u00e1reas de almacenamiento de energ\u00edas renovables, suministro de agua limpia y reciclaje de pl\u00e1stico, y otros.<\/p>\n

Actualmente, es Chief Development Officer de Oceanus Power and Water<\/strong>, un startup de California que ha desarrollado una soluci\u00f3n sustentable y sin emisiones de carbono para almacenar energ\u00eda y al mismo tiempo producir agua potable. Adem\u00e1s, est\u00e1 desarrollando un proyecto innovador en el norte de Chile que soluciona el problema del estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico que esta afectando al pa\u00eds, y adem\u00e1s proporciona almacenamiento de energ\u00edas renovables facilitando el proceso de descarbonizaci\u00f3n de la red el\u00e9ctrica de Chile.<\/p>\n

Aprovechando su estad\u00eda en Concepci\u00f3n, efectu\u00f3 una exposici\u00f3n a alumnos, profesores e invitados especiales en la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda con el fin de compartir su experiencia de vida y laboral con su alma mater.<\/p>\n
