\u201cMiner\u00eda y un mundo bajo en carbono: oportunidades y desaf\u00edos para Chile\u201d<\/strong> fue el tema que convoc\u00f3 a m\u00e1s de 100 personas, varios de ellos egresados de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda, en el marco del Ciclo Di\u00e1logo del Presente, organizado por la Unidad UdeC en Santiago y efectuado el 23 de agosto.<\/p>\n

La actividad, en la que particip\u00f3 el Rector Carlos Saavedra, tuvo dos paneles de conversaci\u00f3n. En el primero, particip\u00f3 Luis Mor\u00e1n, Decano de la FI UdeC, para abordar los desaf\u00edos de conocimiento y capital humano para transformar a Chile en un polo de investigaci\u00f3n, desarrollo e innovaci\u00f3n. Mientras que en el segundo panel, Igor Wilkomirsky del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Metal\u00fargica\u00a0 particip\u00f3 en torno a minerales y metales escasos, c\u00f3mo se potencia la creaci\u00f3n de valor con encadenamientos productivos innovadores.<\/p>\n

La Directora de la Unidad Santiago, Marcela Angulo Gonz\u00e1lez, indic\u00f3 que esta primera conferencia fue una oportunidad \u00fanica para el pa\u00eds para iniciar un trabajo que permita derribar las brechas que hoy existen en la industria. Los expositores concordaron en que hay mucho por trabajar y en ese sentido la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n va \u201ca ser un puente, vamos a tomar esto, esta agenda de innovaci\u00f3n para transformarla en un tema n\u00facleo en el marco del Parque Cient\u00edfico y Tecnol\u00f3gico del Biob\u00edo\u201d,<\/strong> asegur\u00f3 Marcela Angulo.<\/p>\n

Se destaca, adem\u00e1s que durante la actividad se otorg\u00f3 la Medalla Centenario UdeC al Presidente de la Sociedad Nacional de Miner\u00eda (Sonami), Diego Hern\u00e1ndez Cabrera, Ingeniero Civil en Minas de la \u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure des Mines de Paris, Francia.<\/p>\n

Diego Hern\u00e1ndez fue ejecutivo de empresas como Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Compa\u00f1\u00eda Minera Do\u00f1a In\u00e9s de Collahuasi, Vale do Rio Doce. Fue Presidente de BHP Billiton Base Metals, entre el 2010 y 2012 fue Presidente Ejecutivo de Codelco y despu\u00e9s en Antofagasta Minerals.<\/p>\n

El Rector Saavedra se\u00f1al\u00f3 que la Medalla Centenario se otorga a las personas que hayan sido relevantes en el desarrollo hist\u00f3rico de la UdeC y tambi\u00e9n a aquellas que han aportado a los sistemas productivos, culturales y cient\u00edficos del pa\u00eds. En el caso de Diego Hern\u00e1ndez, se destaca su contribuci\u00f3n \u201cen la creaci\u00f3n y la construcci\u00f3n de un ecosistema de innovaci\u00f3n que aporta a los sistemas productivos en el \u00e1mbito del cobre, incorporando nuevas capacidades para nuestro pa\u00eds\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n
