\u201cDesaf\u00edos cient\u00edficos en fibras \u00f3pticas: en b\u00fasqueda de conexiones m\u00e1s veloces\u201d<\/strong> fue el nombre de la exposici\u00f3n realizada por el Dr. Gabriel Saavedra, acad\u00e9mico de Ingenier\u00eda Civil en Telecomunicaciones, en contexto de la Tele-pizza realizada el mi\u00e9rcoles\u00a0 3 de julio.<\/p>\n

En la actividad, el acad\u00e9mico convers\u00f3 con los estudiantes, acad\u00e9micos y administrativos sobre sus estudios de Doctorado en University College London, la historia de la casa de estudios y del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda El\u00e9ctrica, adem\u00e1s de los desaf\u00edos venideros en materia de desarrollo de fibras \u00f3pticas. \u201cEl objetivo de mi charla era que los estudiantes conozcan la l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n a la que me dedico y se motiven para trabajar en el laboratorio\u201d<\/strong>, indic\u00f3 el Dr. Saavedra.<\/p>\n

El Dr. Sergio Sobarzo, jefe de carrera,\u00a0 destac\u00f3 la charla del profesor Saavedra, quien tambi\u00e9n estudi\u00f3 Ingenier\u00eda Civil en Telecomunicaciones. \u201cGabriel fue un ex alumno de nuestra carrera, hizo su doctorado en Londres y volvi\u00f3 a reforzar toda el \u00e1rea de fibra \u00f3ptica, as\u00ed que su presentaci\u00f3n fue bastante interesante sobre todo para los alumnos, dado que pueden ver que es lo que se est\u00e1 haciendo afuera y que nosotros tambi\u00e9n estamos trabajando en esa \u00e1rea de investigaci\u00f3n\u201d<\/strong>, se\u00f1al\u00f3.<\/p>\n

Exequiel Campillo, Jefe Secci\u00f3n Mantenci\u00f3n y Servicios del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda El\u00e9ctrica de la UdeC, coment\u00f3 que el inter\u00e9s del Dr. Saavedra por las fibras \u00f3pticas ya era notorio cuando era estudiante de pregrado, pues lo ayud\u00f3 a realizar una conexi\u00f3n de estas fibras en la universidad.\u00a0 \u201cExist\u00eda una conexi\u00f3n de fibra \u00f3ptica entre la Direcci\u00f3n de Tecnolog\u00edas de Informaci\u00f3n y el Observatorio Geod\u00e9sico Tigo y con Gabriel trabajamos y logramos conectar el Laboratorio de Optoelectr\u00f3nica a esa fibra\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Para los alumnos \u00e9sta tambi\u00e9n fue una exposici\u00f3n destacable. Cristopher Silva, coment\u00f3 que la charla fue \u201cmuy interesante e importante porque es lo que se est\u00e1 haciendo actualmente. El tema de la fibra \u00f3ptica es algo que est\u00e1 avanzando muy r\u00e1pido\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Otro de los estudiantes que se sum\u00f3 a esta opini\u00f3n fue Kevin Lagos,\u00a0 ya que\u00a0 \u201ctuvo bastante que ver con el \u00e1rea que me gusta de esta carrera\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n
